Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK (JOHN) GILLESPIE Born September 25, 1907 in Old Kildonan, the seventh son of Richard and Margaret (Allen) Gillespie of County Fermanagh, Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2001 at Villa Youville with daughter Glennis at his side. Jack is survived by his devoted wife Geraldine; daughters, Kathleen (Andrew) Bell and Glennis (George) McGregor; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Daniel and Nathan Bell; Melissa, Megan and Mackenzie McGregor. He was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters and is survived by one brother Fred of Sprague (aged 102). Jack was happiest working the land and tending livestock. He worked hard but was always able to find time for family, neighbours and friends. He loved music (especially singing) and was often heard whistling or humming a happy tune. Jack and Geraldine enjoyed singing together at local gatherings. Dad could fix anything with what was available, usually a nail or binder twine kept handy in his pocket. Thank you to the home care attendants, staff at Ste. Anne Hospital and Villa Youville for the wonderful care Jack received. A memorial service will be held on September 15, 1:30 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg with Rev. Robin Mather officiating. Following the service, interment at the Millbrook Cemetery (Anola) and reception at the Anola Over 50 Club. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.
