Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAY HADDEN (nee Vaughan) Dorothy quietly passed away on September 10, 2001 at the Grace General Hospital after a year long illness with Bill and Laura at her side. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Florence and Daniel Vaughan; her husband Archie; her brothers, Frank and Hugh; her sister-in-law Janet and husband Jay; brother-in-law Norman and her son-in-law Bob Stott. Dorothy is survived by her loving daughter Laura Stott; son Bill of Brandon; sister Edith (Bob) of Yorkton; sister Marion of Regina; sisters-in-law, Marion and Gladys of Yorkton; sister-in-law Beth of Winnipeg; and brother-in-law Bill (Mabel)of The Pas; plus many nieces and nephews. Mom was born in southern Saskatchewan on June 8, 1920. She spent several years on a farm near Yorkton with her family before marrying Archie in 1945. She spent her married life in Brandon and then moved to Winnipeg in 1975 where she was employed at the North Star Hotel and the Birchwood Hotel. Mom led a very quiet life enjoying her hobbies of knitting, needlepoint and crosswords, her three mornings at "Y" and her Friday afternoon bowling. She especially enjoyed our many trips to Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales with her sister Marion and our special friend Catherine Dupont and time spent at Longbow Lake with the family. Just after her 80th birthday, Mom was diagnosed with a brain tumour and was forced to give up her independent life style and moved in with her daughter.Over the next few months she quietly carried on and enjoyed working the crosswords with Bill when he was in Winnipeg on the weekends and knitting toques for the Christmas Cheer Board. Mom went into hospital on August 9, 2001. A Celebration of Dorothys life will be held on Friday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. Interment of cremated remains will take place in Brandon at a later date. Special thanks to Dr. Coodin who was her doctor for so many years, Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. Kotecha, and Kathy at Cancer Care at the Grace Hospital. A very special thank you to our Home Care nurse Shirley Toews and to all of the staff on 4 West at the Grace who cared for Mom with such patience, kindness and compassion. We would also like to thank all of the friends and relatives who have been so helpful and supportive during Moms year long illness. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Moms memory to the Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Grace Hospital, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7.
