BRUCE MEAKIN Peacefully, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by loved ones, Bruce Meakin passed away at the age of 56. He was predeceased by his father Frederick Meakin; his mother Bertha (Vier) his step-sister Audrey Dailey and his brother-in-law Earl Dailey. Bruce is survived by Marilyn, his loving wife of 34 years; children, Darin (Allyson), Paula (Don Rempel), Kyle (Natalie Overwater) his three grandchildren were his greatest source of pride and joy, Bryce (Little Buddy), Emma (Princess) and Megan (Angel). Bruce is also survived by his brother Brian; sisters, Ellen (Romeo Saltiss) and Joan (Ron Boyd) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce was born in Winnipeg on January 14, 1945. He worked for the Department of Highways, Carter Motors, Elie Motors, Petro Canada, but, his greatest satisfaction was farming in partnership with his brother Brian. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He also developed a passion for golfing and attending Goldeyes Baseball games. Bruces great inner strength was appreciated by all who knew him; he was a loyal gentle friend who touched the hearts of many. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses in the HSC Emergency Room, Dr. A. Maksymiuk and Dr. S. Navaratnam, as well as all the friends, co-workers and family who have given us their prayers and support during this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, MB on Friday, September 14, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mitchell officiating. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Bruces memory to CancerCare Manitoba, ON109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
