June was predeceased by her husband Charlie; son Arnold; parents, Matthew and Julia Sorlie; seven sisters; and three brothers. June was born June 1, 1923 in Piney, MB, youngest child of Matthew and Julia Sorlie. She received her limited education in Piney. Following school she was employed as a cook or waitress in various restaurants and hotels. It was in Oak River while waitressing that she met Dad and they married July 22, 1950. They lived in Justice, MB for two years where Dad was employed with the Manitoba Pool Elevators. They then moved to Isabella, MB with Manitoba Pool. During the 23 years they lived in Isabella, Mom was very involved in the community. She was a curler, golfer, a member of the UCW, and loved playing cribbage and bingo with friends. She was always involved and supportive of her family. While in Isabella, Mom was caretaker of the United Church, drove a feeder car in the country for the school division and fed Pool Elevator gangs when they were working in town. She seldom sat idle. In 1976 Mom and Dad had to take a move to Gladstone with Manitoba Pool Elevators due to the CN line closing at Isabella. They very much enjoyed living in Gladstone. Mom continued to golf, curl, go to bingo, and playing crib with friends and her. Dad also took up going to the horse races held around Manitoba. Mom made several good friends in Gladstone. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Clarkes Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at the Gladstone Cemetery. Rev. Blair Whyte officiated. Pallbearers were Craig Douglas, Tom Ferguson, Rick Dezall, Rod Anderson, Colin Gowan, and Ed Grumpelt.
