Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN WILLIAM SEMCHUK Peacefully, on Friday, September 14, 2001, John, age 90 years, passed away at the Grace Hospital. Big John was born on the family homestead near Winnipegosis, MB on January 24, 1911. Johns early years were spent commercial fishing in and around Winnipegosis. This eventually led to a 25 year career as an inspector with the federal department of fisheries. During the Second World War Dad served with the RCAF. Dads tastes were simple. He loved keeping busy with gardening and home projects but his greatest joy was going hunting with his sons. His family and friends will miss him very much. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Catherine; children, Mariann (Richard) Chornenki, Roxanne, Ryan (Steinunn Bessason), Robert (Karen), Luana; grandchildren, Adam, Alana, Steven, Blake, Kristin, Lauren and Caitlin. He also leaves to mourn his passing sisters Amelia Isenburg, Beatrice McCulloch and their families. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Paul. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, at 10:00 a.m. also at Cropo Chapel with Very Rev. Fr. John Melnyk officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations in memory of John may be made to a charity of their choice.
