DAVID DESMOND McCORMAC It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband and father, Des McCormac, aged 76 years on Friday, September 14, 2001 at the Victoria General Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Stuart and Jean, his brother Jim and his sister Betty. He is survived by his loving wife Alma, his two sons and their families, Brad and Karen of Winnipeg, John and Susan of Campbell River, BC; and his much loved grandchildren, Brett, Curtis, Lindsay, Scott, and Dana. Des grew up in Kelso, SK. At the age of 18 he joined the Airforce and trained as a gunner. After the war he attended the University of Saskatchewan and received his Mechanical Engineering degree. He was very proud of his profession. He worked for the Dept. of Highways in Regina, Polymer Corp. in Sarnia, ON and in 1965 he and his family moved to Pinawa where he worked for Atomic Energy of Canada until his retirement in 1991. He found his niche in Pinawa. Here everything was to his satisfaction, his job, the natural surroundings, the wildlife, and the activities that were available to his boys. In winter he walked around the town. Spring, summer and fall he played golf. Golf was his passion. He played nine holes the day before he was hospitalized. This summer he had the pleasure of having several rounds with his sons and grandsons. He was a kind and gentle man. His family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. B. Sharkey, Dr. D Scurrah, the compassionate nurses in unit 4 at the Victoria General Hospital, the doctors and nurses at Pinawa Hospital, especially Dr. Bud Opie who was his friend and doctor for over 30 years. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the F.W. Gilbert School with Rev. Robert Murray officiating. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. SOBERING FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, Beausejour 268-3510 or MB toll free 1-877-776-2220
