ALICE MARIE OLSON (nee JEANSON) It is with deepened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and wife (42 years) of Kenneth Olson on Saturday, September 15, 2001. After a courageous five year battle with cancer, Alice was called by God to be with her father and mother Antonin and Anastasie Jeanson (nee Savoie) in heaven. Mourning her loss are her four children, Robert (Barbara), Roger (Colette), Leanne Juer (Tim) and David (Michelle) 10 grandchildren, Drew, Richard, Cody, Savannah, Brendan, Katherine, Alexiah, Chantel, Shelby, and Benjamin. Alice also leaves behind seven brothers and sisters, Hortense Wilcott, Roland Jeanson (Anna), Rita Johnson (Raymond), Marcelle Dupont, Philippe Jeanson (Rita), Germain Jeanson (Rose), Arthur Jeanson. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Jeanson, Marie Jeanson, Carolyn Woodall (Ron), Verna Storzuk (Boris), Judy Hildahl (ken), Nancy Desfosse, (Norman), Brian Olson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father; brothers, Clovis and Gerald Jeanson; sister-in-law Betty Jeanson; and brothers-in-law, Cyril Dupont and Julien Wilcott. She was also predeceased by her father and mother-in-law, Reider and Margit Olson (nee Moen). Born on February 13, 1933, Alice spent her formative years in Lorette, MB where she grew up surrounded by the love and comfort of her family who overcame the early loss of their father. With the strength of her mother and support of her brothers and sisters, Alice went on to Teaching School prior to earning her degree from the University of Manitoba. She spent the next 35 years in the educational system teaching in communities across Manitoba where she touched the lives of many students in this province. Specializing in the resourceful needs of children with learning difficulties, Alice worked one-on-one with many children, helping them overcome their special needs. She retired from teaching in 1992 after spending the last 11 years of her career on the Pediatric Ward of the St. Boniface Hospital. A working mother, long before it became the norm, Alice was especially proud of her children, taking an active role in their lives as she ran from hockey rink to baton lessons and back. She and Ken enjoyed many trips south to visit relatives in Minneapolis and Phoenix and spending time together with her family at "the farm". Her companionship and love will be especially missed by Ken and her children. Rest peacefully memere and be proud of the legacy you left. At the request of our mother, cremation has taken place. A mass celebrating Alices life will be held on Wednesday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St., presided by Fr. Lucien Roy. Service will terminate at the church. A gathering of relatives and friends will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alices memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Manitoba.
