Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE MONTGOMERY (MONTY) DUNBAR At his summer residence, Marina Terrace, Pelican Lake, on September 14, 2001, George Montgomery (Monty) Dunbar, 73, of 9 Durum Drive in Brandon, passed away. Mr. Dunbar was born in Brandon and attended King George and Earl Haig Schools, and graduated with distinction from Brandon Collegiate Institute. Further education was pursued at Brandon College and The University of Manitoba where he received his Bachelor of Arts, Diploma in Education, and Bachelor of Education degrees. Mr. Dunbar taught at Anola and Minnedosa before joining the School District of Brandon #129 (Brandon School Division #40) in September, 1951. He served as a teacher in Alexandra School, McLaren School, and the Brandon Collegiate Institute. As an Administrator, he served in Earl Oxford, McLaren and Valleyview Centennial Schools. He ended his career in 1990 as a teacher at Betty Gibson School. His main enjoyment was his cottage where he enjoyed gardening, bird-watching and swimming. Other interests were travel, cross-country skiing, cycling, walking, and rug-hooking. Monty is survived by his sister-in-law Beverly of Calgary, AB; his niece Wendy (Harvey) Coomber (Gregory and Mitchell) of Victoria, B.C.; his niece Janis (Donald) Duncan (Derek and Ashley) of Winnipeg; and his life-companion Robert Blair of Brandon; and several cousins in Canada, the United States, and Scotland. In addition, Monty leaves a host of close friends who mourn his passing. He was predeceased by his mother (1967) his father (1971) and his only brother Donald (1980). The ceremony to celebrate Montys life will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North, on Thursday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Canon Paul Curtis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in memory of Monty may be made to the Eckhardt-Gramatte National Music Competition, c/o Brandon University School of Music, 270 - 18th St., Brandon, MB, R7A 6A9. Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
