MARIAN GURAL On Sunday, September 16, 2001 at Winnipeg, MB, Marian Gural, beloved wife of Walter Gural, passed away at the age of 70 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter Janice; and her son Ritchie; and her brother Lawrence Smith. She was predeceased by her parents George and Nellie Szymanski, the family was known as Smith; three sisters, Florence, Frances, and Anne; and two brothers, Frank and George. For the 44 years of marriage that began on July 20, 1957, Marian was a wonderful wife and a good person, these are the words that sum up how her husband Walter feels about Marian. His words, I love you very, very much, may be very simple, but came from the heart. After Walter retired they were very fortunate to spend almost all of their time together. From going bowling, to some traveling, to just doing grocery shopping, the quantity of the time they spent together and the quality added to the depth of their relationship with each other. Marian had a very limited career in the work force because in 1959 she gave birth to their first child, a boy they named Ritchie, and her full time career as a mother and homemaker began. He remembers at a young age his mom telling him that he was soft-hearted, just like dads mom. A soft heart and a sensitive soul, these traits are not a weakness in a man, but sterling qualities. Rich will always carry these with him, and it is a fitting reminder of how successful his mother was helping to raise him. In 1964, Marian and Walter became parents again, this time to a daughter they named Janice. When Winnipeg had an NHL team, many times Mom and Janice would take in games together, just the two of them, a time just for them. Marian was the role model for her daughter, and in many ways, the woman that she is today. Both her father and brother would agree, Mom did good. The Messenger of Misery visited our house this past Sunday, and no words can express the loss of what we held so dear. Marian, if she were writing these words would agree that the most important things in life are health, happiness, and especially love. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements 586-8044.
