Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION WINNIFRED GERING (nee BOTTRELL) After a courageous battle, but peacefully on September 20, 2001 at home in Moosehorn, MB, with her husband Roy at her side, Mom went to be with her Lord. She will be lovingly remembered by husband Roy; daughters, Margaret (Robert) Ellison, Beverly Wolfe (Tom Neufeld) son Ralph (Tannis) whom she considered a third daughter. Grandchildren, Stacy and Jenna Metner, Kevin and Tara Ellison, Steven and Krystin Gering; and great-grandsons, Dylan and Owen. Mom also will be remembered by sister Helen (Victor) Goertzen of Victoria BC; and brother Dan (Margaret) Bottrell of Eriksdale, MB. Sister-in-law Edith Gering and brother-in-law Walter Gering; along with numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. Mom was born in Roseisle, MB on December 23, 1931, and moved to Eriksdale in her early teens. She was born with many obstacles in her way but always excelled at lifes challenges. She taught school at Carn Ridge when she met Dad, fell in love and got married in 1952. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 5, 2002. After she had her family she continued her education by going back to Teachers College, then got her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She taught school for almost 25 years, because of her determination she strengthened and inspired family, friends and all who knew her. She had a thirst for knowledge and continued taking courses till her illness. Mom had a love of music and shared her talents with everyone. She and dad also loved their pets and found peace in the evenings sitting together on the swing enjoying their flowers and gardens. She was a determined and kind person who lent a helping hand to everyone and had many of her own accomplishments. We were always very proud of you, for your never ending strength, your constant need to learn and most of all in your faith that held you together. We love you always. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. A celebration of Marions life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 24 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, with Rev. Donna J. Smalley officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in the Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Goertzen, Harold Bottrell, Brian Bottrell, Edward Bottrell, Gordon Gering and Fred Gering. Everyone in attendance can consider themselves honorary pallbearers for Marion that day. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the A-3 Step-Down Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg and to the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, for the care they gave Marion, also a special thank you to the home care workers for looking after Marion when she was in Moosehorn.
