Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEBRA BLACK-FROMAN August 13, 1940- August 22, 2001 On August 22, 2001, our dearly beloved mother passed away peacefully at home, in Saskatoon, Sk. after a lengthy illness. She fought a long and courageous battle with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is lovingly remembered by her son Duane of Courtney, BC; daughters, Briana (Orville) of Norway House, MB, Cammy (Robert) of Winfield, BC, and Shelley-Lynn (Courtney) of Saskatoon, SK. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Destiny, Robert, Sky, Jeremy, Charmaine, Christal, Lora, Ronnie; and foster grandchildren Jeremy and Tyler. She also leaves to mourn brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Ontario, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Victoria and New York. Debra was born on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario and settled in Winnipeg for many years where she raised her four children. After she was appointed to the National Parole Board in 1995, she moved to Saskatoon. Debra was an advocate for Aboriginal people and issues and devoted her life and career towards making a difference. She obtained her B.A in Criminology and her B.S.W. from the university of Manitoba. Her career spanned 30 years and she achieved her lifelong goal of being on the National Parole Board. Debra spent many years working in the judicial system as a probation/parole officer for the Government of Manitoba. She also was one of the cofounders of the Mamwhichitat Center and worked as a counselor at the Main Street Project, Indian and Metis Friendship center and other Aboriginal organizations. She touched many lives in her career and will be missed by all. There comes a time for all Of us when we must say goodbye God saw you getting tired And the cure was not to be So he wrapped you in his loving arms And whispered "Come to me" You suffered much in silence Your spirit did not bend You faced your pain with courage Until the bitter end. Remember the love that we Once shared, miss me, but let me go We love you mom (Kookum) A Celebration of Debras life will be held on Saturday, September 29 at the Crescentwood Community Centre, 1170 Corydon Ave. starting at 7:00 p.m. Please join the family in this evening to honour Debra.
