Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE HERBERT (BUD) READ VE6GG On September 5, 2001, Mr. Bud Read passed away at the age of 82. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen; one son Bill and his wife Joanne; one daughter Jo-Ann and her husband Dick Sherlock; six grandchildren, Angela and Meagan Read; Mark, Scott, Christie and Sarah Sherlock; two sisters-in-law, Isabel Jeffery and Dorothy Martin of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law, Warren Bickell and Noel Maxwell of Sydney, BC; many nieces, nephews and friends; and two cousins in England, Margaret Hines and Christine Downs. Bud had an active life in business, the Boy Scouts of Canada and the Kiwanis Club. His family and grandchildren were his pleasure, especially when all were together at their cottage at Skeleton Lake. His lifetime hobby was amateur radio for which he was licensed at the age of 18. He built his own station from where he talked to people all over the world. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Alice Read. Grateful thanks to Dr. Whittaker and the staff at the Choice Program for their care and comfort over the past few years. A memorial service was held at Christ Church, 12116 - 102 Ave., Edmonton, on Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p.m., The Venerable John Privett officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Society, Edmonton Chapter, or the Canadian Diabetes Society, Research Fund, Edmonton.
