KATHERINE HEARSON Embracing life and her family to the end, Mom and Gram left us to join Gramps on September 20, 2001. Son Kelly, his wife Brenda and children, Kathryn and Mark Hearson; and her daughter Judy with husband Clint Toews, will treasure her memory always. Who could forget the feisty committee member who attended innumerable meetings to organize fund-raising events for the Catholic Womens League, or to build the new St. Viators Church in Dauphin? Apres-meeting wine toasts to their successes led to enduring friendships with fellow parishioners. Moms strength of purpose never wavered, Have you done your homework; practised your music; studied for your test? Those questions prodded two generations of Hearsons. With equal resolve she cared tirelessly for Dad, and endured her own similar illness with quiet courage. Moms well-dressed well-coiffed image never dimmed either. Born when she worked at Helen Kings Dress Shop in Estevan and nurtured by numerous outings to fashion shows, her sense of style was keen. If we cut our hair too short, left it grow a bit shaggy, or forgot to shave for church, Gram cast a disapproving eye from her end of the pew. Her Saturday morning appointment with friend and hairdresser Gayel was inviolate. And who could ever forget Sunday dinner at Grams? Never the same thing twice... unfortunately sometimes (saving recipes was not Moms forte), and fortunately at other times (a certain rubber chicken and one dreadful green tomato pie spring to mind). Grams cookies, though, were the very best and her Christmas baking legendary in variety and taste. Christmas was Moms time to sparkle like the hundreds of lovingly-placed strands of tinsel she hung on the tree in earlier days, to the meticulous placement of something festive in every corner. How she loved to keep the fire burning merrily as we spent every New Years together in a cozy cabin at the Elkhorn Resort! We wont let the fire go out Mom, Gram. Your spirit burns brightly in the very fibres of our being. For your gentle care, thank you Doctors Nason and Daeninck, visiting nurse Mariette, and the palliative care staff of St. Boniface Hospital. Please support the work of Hospice & Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3J OL3, as Mom did so faithfully. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Ave. Immediately following the service a reception will follow at the church. When I must leave you for a little while Please dont grieve and shed sad tears. For my sake and in my name Live on and do all things the same. And never, never be afraid to die For I am waiting for you in the sky. Mom and Gram Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
