EVALD "SAM" ANDREASEN May 5, 1930 - September 21, 2001 After a long courageous battle with cancer and heart disease Evald "Sam" Andreasen, with his family at his side, went to be with his Lord. He passed away at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre on September 21, 2001. Left to cherish his memory are his loving family, wife Olga; one son Eric (Peggy) grandchildren, Dana, Kyle and Katelyn; one daughter Bonnie and husband Michael Altheim; granddaughters, Brittany and Kelsea of Temecula, California. Also surviving him are family in Denmark, two sisters, Marie Germansen and Elly Munk Jensen; two brothers, Erik and wife Tove, Arnie and wife Kirsten, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Marie (Pedersen) Andreasen and Kristaen Peter Andreasen; one brother Henry; one sister Paula Sorensen; a niece and nephew all of Denmark. Evald "Sam" was born and raised in Denmark. He came to Canada in 1952 as a journeyman baker. He worked at bakeries in Dauphin and Brandon until July, 1956 when along with his partner Jack Quirie purchased Western Bakery which they operated until Jack retired in 1983, after which it was operated by the Andreasen family. Sam and Olga retired in 1991. Sam was a member of the Vermillion Lodge No. 68 AF and AM Dauphin, Rabboni Chapter No. 7 R.A.M.; Mount Carmel Preceptory No. 44 KT and KM; Khartum Temple AAONMS and the Dauphin & District Shrine Club. A private graveside service has taken place on September 24, 2001 at 1:30 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Chapel, Dauphin, MB, with Pastor Glenn Widdis officiating and the service to conclude in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sam may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. The Sneath-Strilchuk Funeral Service have care of the arrangements.
