FINNUR BJORN MARKUSSON Finnur Bjorn Markusson passed away on September 21, 2001 surrounded by his family at the Arborg and Districts Health Centre, Arborg, MB, at the age of 101 years. Finnur was born on May 1, 1900, on the family farm, Fagurhol, Arnes, MB. On January 10, 1941 he married Gudrun Thordarson, and together they farmed at Fagurhol until retirement. Gudrun passed away in July 1997, and Finnur continued to live on the farm until May 2000 when he moved to the Arborg Personal Care Home. Besides his wife Gudrun, he was predeceased by his parents, Ingibjorg and Gudmundur; brothers, Olafur and Sveinbjorn; sisters-in-law Stina Markusson and Emily Markusson; and brother-in-law Bjorn Peturson. He is survived by his daughters, Marlene (Ray) Jensen, Jona (Ben) Borgford, and Lorraine (Leonard) Bardarson; his grandsons, Mark (Dana) and Donald (Sandy) Jensen, Warren (April), Douglas (Rose) and Vern Borgford; Corey, Darryl and Sheldon Bardarson; and his great-grandchildren, Megan, Jeffrey and Kelsey Jensen, and Austin Borgford. He is also survived by his sister Gudny Peturson; brother Johannes; and brother-in-law Norman (Vilborg) Thordarson, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 2:30 p.m. at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Claire Speary officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church. The family extends thanks to the staff at the Arborg Personal Care Home, the homecare workers and overnight workers for the excellent care and kindness shown to our father.
