ERVA WINNIFRED DEACON (nee BOND) Born May 9, 1924 in New Aberdeen, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Erva was promoted to glory September 22, 2001 surrounded by her loving family. Erva was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Winnifred; her infant son Eric; her grandson Ryan; and her brothers, Byron and Blenus. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Gordon; her eight children, Winn Blackman (Bill), Sharon Wynne (Ted), Margaret Neitzke (Bruce), Gordon (Cathy), Art (Barb), Paul (Fern), Erva Ritson (Don), and Ruth Moulton (Jim) 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers. Erva will be remembered for her commitment to her Lord and Saviour and her service in the Salvation Army. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, September 25, at 2:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Heritage Park Temple, 825 School Road. Special thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospital emergency department, 4S and 4W. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heritage Park Temple Corps.
