Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH ALBERT GEORGE "CHIEF" VEILLEUX "Chief" Veilleux, aged 78 years, of Lac du Bonnet, Mb dearly beloved husband of the late Betty Veilleux passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2001 at the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care home with his family by his side. He is survived by his daughter Carol (Albert), and sons, Keith (Sheila), Cliff (Gwen), Michael (Julie), Robert (Donna) and Paul (Trina), 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Betty and son Ian, brothers, Arthur, Leonard and Richard, sister Florence and parents, Pete and Lillian. Dad enlisted in the armed forces at the age of 19, training in Halifax and England. In 1944, he saw active duty in France as a light anti-aircraft gunner. In October 1944, he was wounded in action in Belgium and returned to Canada in March 1945. In 1945, he was married to Betty and they had one daughter and six sons. Over the years, Dad worked at a variety of jobs, as an equipment operator and trucker with the majority of years working with Natural Resources. Dad retired in 1988. Over the years, Dad loved curling, golfing and all sports. When he could no longer actively take part in his sports, he enjoyed being a fan and cheering others. As long as he was able, Dad was a very social man, and continually enjoyed visiting and sharing quick wit with all those he met. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Haggard and Dr. VanGend, and to the wonderful staff at Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home who had their challenges caring for Dad. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lac du Bonnet Legion Hall with Rev. Brian Rountree officiating. Interment will follow at the Lac du Bonnet cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith, Cliff, Michael, Robert, Paul and Albert.
