MARGARET LOUISE GISLASON (nee STEFAN) Born December 21, 1916 in Winnipeg, eldest daughter of Johann and Barbara Stefan, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2001 in Gimli in the care of the compassionate and dedicated staff of the Betel Home, and the unfaltering companionship of her husband Gordon. Margaret grew up in the West End, was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church, graduated form Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate and worked in the Eatons department store before her marriage in 1945. It was her gift to find fulfilment in creating a healthy home environment for her husband and three rambunctious children, on whom she lavished tender care. Her innate curiosity and inventiveness in the kitchen produced many legendary "favourite dishes" that made the evening dinner table an appealing focus of family life. She was the still point around which her family moved, a spirited, but shy woman who loved challenges and retained the ability to learn throughout her life. Modest by nature, but possessed of a quiet wisdom, she often startled and delighted us with her incisive one-line satirical quips. Margaret is predeceased by her sisters, Irene and Gertie. She lives in the thankful memories of her children, Gordon (Edna), Donald and Kathryn (Rick) and in the heart of her loving husband of 56 years, Gordon. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., entrance on Aubrey Street on Friday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ingthor Isfeld officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
