Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLETTICE (LETTY) HILL On Sunday, September 23, 2001, after a lengthy illness, Letty Hill slipped away two days before her ninety-seventh birthday. Letty was born on September 25, 1904, daughter of Joseph Herbert Yates and Jane Ann (Barnes) Yates, in Haslington, Cheshire, England. Letty came to Canada in 1911 and they settled in St. James where her father built a house on Brooklyn Street. She attended Britannia School and after completing her education, worked in the Book Department of Eatons. It was there that she met Bryan Charles Hill, also a resident of St. James. They spent their married life in the same area until Bryan passed away on July 25, 1985. They were active golfers, having belonged to Assiniboine and Breezy Bend Golf Clubs. They were also active members of St. James Kiwanis and took up residence at Kiwanis Courts on Sinawik Bay when it first opened. Letty had also been a member of Queen Winnipeg Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star. Mourning her passing are nephews, Berton Kernahan of Tucson, Arizona, Martin Kernahan of Calgary; nieces, Joyce Hill, Shirlee Blackman and Margaret Del Castillo of Winnipeg, Jean Birnie of Edmonton, and Joan Hill of Victoria. We wish to thank the staff at Oakview Extendicare for their thoughtful, caring attention over the past eight years. There will be a private graveside service held. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
