GORDON HENRY WHITE It is with sadness that we announce the death on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 of our husband, father and grandfather Gordon White who passed away at the age of 75 years after a lengthy illness. His wife Bernice, his son Dave (Linda), his grandson Carl and Carls mother Sandra Barry, will sadly miss him. He is survived by his brothers, Harvey (Erlene) of Calgary and Ralph (Kathy) of White Rock and sisters, Nancy (Arthur) of Victoria, Helen (Ray) of Agassiz, Betty (Larry) of White Rock, and Ruth of Blaine, Washington as well as many nieces and nephews. Gordon was born and grew up in Sceptrec, SK. Like many others of his generation he joined the Canadian Armed Forces after moving to the Vancouver area in the early 1940s. It was in the army that he met his lifelong friend Bruce James with whom he shared many adventures. After they were discharged, Gordon accompanied Bruce back to Winnipeg where he met Bernice, his wife of 53 years. Throughout his life Gordon worked with Federal Grain, Stephens Paint, Marshall Wells and Great West Life. On his retirement he was employed with Sears. His grandson Carl has been the joy of his life and he was never happier than when challenging Carl to cutthroat cribbage. Gordon was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and will be missed by his friends at the Canadian German Society and the Polish Fraternal Aid Society of St. John Cantius. Gordons funeral service will take place on Monday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m., in Deer Lodge United Church, 2093 Portage Ave., at Belvidere Street, with Rev. Peter Douglas officiating. Our family would like to thank the staff of Ward GH-4 and the Social Work Department of the Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and dedication throughout Gordons final illness. Flowers are gratefully declined. If so wished, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8.
