EDWARD LEIPZ Peacefully on Thursday, September 27,2001, Edward Leipz, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 68 years. Leaving to cherish his memory are, beloved wife, Gunhild; daughters, Diana (Ken), Lisa (George) son Glenn; grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, John and Paul. Edward was born December 8, 1932 and spent his childhood in the North End, graduating from Issac Newton in 1951. In 1954 Ed married Gunhild and together they proudly raised their three children in Transcona. His heart of gold will be dearly missed along with the selfless nature with which he cared for his family. Ed started his career with the CNR as a brakeman, and entered the Winnipeg Police Force a short time later where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement in 1991. Edwards hobbies included camping, fishing, photography and golf. Ed loved games of all sorts and would never turn down a good game of cribbage. In the winters, Eds passions turned to bowling where he had been a long-time Secretary of Chateau Lanes. Ed also devoted several years as a member of Capitol Lodge No. 136. Ed loved spending summers with friends and family at their cottage in Grand Beach MB and later in Belair MB. His storytelling abilities were without peer and his easy going personality and keen sense of humour earned him friends wherever he went. Cremation has taken place and memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 3 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Our family would like to thank the staff and residents of Sunnywood Manor Personal Care Home for the kindness and compassion they provided Ed prior to his passing.
