Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE OSMOND FISHER Peacefully, on September 27, 2001 after a courageous battle with his illness, Osmond (Ozzie) G. Fisher, passed away at the age of 85 years. Ozzie was pre-deceased by his parents, Mary and Alfred Fisher; infant twin son; brothers, Budden, and Harry; sister Wyn (Crossman) and grandson Darcy Fisher. Ozzie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Paulina; his three children, Carl (Mae), Joan (Sonny) Dunlop, Wayne (Therese) (Bev) his seven grandchildren, Darin Dunlop (Belinda), Dawn Dunlop-Pugh (Mark), Dr. Dina Fisher (Wally Mellett), Shelley Fisher (Richard Pontello), Kelvin Fisher (Tamara), Quenten Fisher (Michelle), and Amanda Fisher; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Kirsten, Connor, Tommy, Jack, Owen, Madeline, and Gillian; step-grandchildren, Jody and Tamie; two sisters, Maud Habing and Sybil Garbett; and many friends and relatives Ozzie was born on June 16, 1916 in the Klondyke District. He attended school and farmed in Hazelridge. He married Paulina Bangart in 1940 and began raising their family. He worked at the Cordite plant during the war, and drove the school bus for 20 years. They sold the farm and moved to Transcona in 1965. Ozzie was very active in the Hazelridge community; 4-H leader in garden, beef, and seed clubs, at the hockey rink and curling club. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren, square dancing, knitting scarves for the Christmas Cheer Board, walking his dogs, playing cards, camping and travelling to the BC coast, woodworking and bowling. Ozzie will be remembered by his bus and Arthur Day students, for his love, keen wit and practical jokes. His children and all his grandchildren always held a very special place in his heart. His grandchildren will be his pallbearers. Loving and kind in all his ways Thoughtful and caring to the end of his days Sincere and true in heart and mind Beautiful memories he left behind He had a smile for everyone A heart as pure as gold To those of us who loved him His memory will never grow old. The family would like to thank Dr. K. Grace and the nurses at Concordia Hospital, the United Church ministers, Carol and Jeff Cook for their kindness and love. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jeff Cook on Tuesday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West Transcona, with viewing one-half hour before service. Burial to follow in the family plot in Sunnyside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ozzies memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
