Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTRAND LESAGE It is with deep pain and sorrow that we announce the passing of Bert Lesage of Notre Dame de Lourdes on Friday, September 28, 2001. Undoubtedly enjoying the short drive home from town, Bert and his dear friend Carol Peters were both sadly taken away from us. Bert was the fourth child of 20, whose parents Donat and Denise Lesage, raised him on the farm instilling values of faith, love and passion for life. Bert left home early to attend a school in Winnipeg, and shortly after graduating left for Europe to explore the mysteries of the world, a journey which only ended with his passing. While in Europe visiting his brother Gilles, Bert was introduced to a beautiful young Austrian woman, Christa Dungl. They fell in love and returned to Canada to begin their lives together. Bert and Christa had three beautiful daughters, and gladly raised them surrounded by a strong community of friends and family. Bert tried his hand at several businesses including farming and restauranteering before finally settling into buying and selling cattle. The fit appeared perfect with Berts job affording them the opportunity to travel, work and play together as a family until their world was turned upside down with Christas diagnosis of cancer. This battle which would last seven years and had profound impacts on the family which they faced with courage, integrity and good humour until the passing of Christa in 1996. The loss of the love of his life was certainly the greatest challenge he was ever to face. With the anchor of family and friends providing support, Bert met that challenge with his usual good humour and a deep passion for life with all its darkness and beauty. When the fog began to lift, Bert emerged with a goofy grin, a silly laugh and a determination to enjoy every minute of every day with his new love Carol and their families. Bert leaves behind friends and family throughout the world. Wherever he went, be it at work or play, Bert touched peoples lives with his down to earth love of life, good humour and integrity of spirit. He was comfortable in all circles, always curious to know what made people tick and always looking on the bright side of life. Apart from his 17 siblings on three continents Bert leaves behind his three daughters, Melanie and husband Julien of Saskatoon, Natacha, about to start a new career in Portland, Oregon, and Sara, still at home in Notre-Dame. Words cannot express how we will miss Bert, but our memories of his goofy humour, warm generous heart, and profound love of life will be with us forever. He would have made an awesome Grandpa. Prayers will be held at Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. with Msgr Noel Delaquis and Father Raymond Bremaud officiating. As an expression of sympathy, friends or family may send memorial donations to a charity of choice. Adams Funeral Home of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba in care of arrangements.
