LEON BRUNEL Peacefully on October 1, 2001, on the day of his 60th wedding anniversary, Leon Brunel of Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB, passed away at the Notre Dame Hospital at the age of 84 years. He leaves to mourn, his beloved wife Marie (nee Berard) five children, Larry (Lillian), Gerald (Louise), Albert (Yvette), Maurice (Betty) and Bobby; ten grandchildren, Donald, Dean, Sarah, Julie, Joey, Stefane, Daniel, Christian, Ryan and Craig; three great-grandchildren, Crystal, Danielle and Keanna. He also leaves to mourn three sisters, Colombe, Melina and Anna; two brothers, Gilbert and Roger. He was predeceased by one brother Alphonse. Leon was born April 19, 1917, near St. Lupicin. In 1941 he married Marie Berard and together they raised five children. They farmed all his life in St. Lupicin until they retired in 1980 to Notre Dame. He loved to hunt and fish and also spent numerous hours in hockey rinks, coaching and watching, but especially watching his sons and grandchildren playing hockey. Family prayers will be held at Adams Funeral Home on Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, October 6. Recitation of the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. with Father Raymond Bremaud officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, friends and family may send memorial donations to the Centre de Sante, Box 190, Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB, R0G 1M0, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
