JOHN "HAROLD" RIDD April 12, 1915 - October 1, 2001 With deep sadness we announce that Harold Ridd passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre, October 1, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife Jessie; son Robert; daughter Margaret; grandsons, John (Cathy) and Michael; sister Helen of Calgary; brother and sisters-in-law, Roger and Margaret Smith of Winnipeg; Catherine Ridd of California as well as numerous nephews, nieces and dear friends. Harold and Jay were blessed to celebrate 55 years of marriage on August 24 of this year. He served from 1942 to 1946 with the 12th MB Dragoons in Canada, England, and Holland. Harold retired from the Canadian General Electric in 1977. He and Jay volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels. They travelled to numerous places in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain, but they couldnt wait to spend as much time from April to October at their lovely cottage in Victoria Beach. Thanks to all who called or visited while he was in hospital. Special thanks to Suzette R.N. and Dr. P. Orr on GA4. Donations in Harolds memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, October 4 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
