Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLEMENT GEORGE BUSBY In loving memory of our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather who passed away peacefully on October 2, 2001 at Souris District Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (McLennan) in 1996. He leaves to mourn his only sister Mae Linell of Sooke, BC and her family. His daughters, Pat Rowe (Brian), Donna Jackson (Don), both of Souris, Susan Mullholland (Mike) of Naniamo, BC; and one son Dan of Sackville, NB; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive Clem. His grandchildren are Don Rowe (Kemnay), Jeff Rowe and Tyler Rowe both of Souris, Carla Betker of Souris, Joanne Phillips of Hartney, Julie Lowe of Brandon, Lisa Brown of Camrose, AB, Colin and Patrick Busby of Sackville, and Steven and Mathew Mullholland of Naniamo. He is also fondly remembered by Jeans surviving brothers and sisters, Jim McLennan (Marie) of Brandon, Betty McLennan (Eric) of Winnipeg, Beryl Gould (Cliff) of Winnipeg, Helen Armstrong (Stan) of Victoria, BC, Margaret Tallis (Jim) of Parksville, BC, and Lois Dodd (Sam) of Roblin, MB; and many nieces and nephews. Clem was born in McCreary, MB in 1911 and received his education there until high school, which he attended in Portage la Prairie. Out of school he was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada, his work took him to Deloraine, The Pas, Russell, Roblin, Waskada, Souris and Crystal City. During his time in Russell he met Jean, his wife of 56 years. They were married in Toronto November 15, 1940. Upon his retirement he and Jean moved back to the home they had built in Souris. Clem joined the armed forces in 1940 and spent from 1941 to 1945 at various postings in the Maritimes, working as a navigator for the RCAF. He and Jean had many fond memories of their time in the Maritimes. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years, recently receiving his 50 year pin. Clem took great interest in community activities and for a number of years lead a group of Air Cadets. He was a member of Kiwanis, a charter member of the Souris Lions Club, he served on Souris town council and was an avid golfer. He loved a good baseball game and his garden and his yard were his pride and joy. Clem had many interested including gardening and carpentry. He enjoyed the newest innovations and bought his first computer at age 86. Clem was able to live at home until the last week of his life. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Kowalchuks Funeral Home. If friends so desire in lieu of flowers, donations in Clems memory may be made to the Souris Beautification Committee.
