GIUSEPPINA GATTI (nee MAIONE) Peacefully, with her family by her side, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Giuseppina Gatti, aged 68 years, on October 6, 2001 at the Victoria General Hospital. Giuseppina was predeceased by her parents, Luigi and Teresa Maione. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gino; her son Pasquale (Maria) daughters, Franca (Sal) Cesario and Teresa (Frank) Cianflone; grandchildren, Josie, Francesca, Gino, Jill and Adriana. She will also be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters, Maria (Frank) Derosa, Emma (late Peter) Petrovich, Tony (Angela) Maione, Ralph (late Nina) Maione, Frank (Mary) Maione of California, Piera (Frank) DiNoto and numerous nieces and nephews. Giuseppina was born in Malito, Cosenza, Italy on April 3, 1933. She married Dad December 23, 1951 and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year, a feat not accomplished by many couples. She came to Canada in 1966. Mom spent her life helping and caring for her children, as well as being everyone elses Mom. She was the center of our family, we went to her with our problems and gained from her strength, independence and a patient manner. She loved to watch her grandchildren as they learned to walk and talk. Giuseppina will no longer enjoy going shopping with her daughters on the weekends, nor be found sitting on her front porch enjoying the sun filled days. Her memory and the loving sparkle in her eyes will be treasured always. She devoted her entire life to her family. Active pallbearers Luigi Maione, John DiNoto, Vince DeRosa, Pete Petrovich, Lucio Vena, Tony Anastasio, Tony Petrovich, Lou Petrovich. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, October 9 at 8:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Church. Entombment to follow at the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. The family would like to thank Dr. P. Griffin, Dr. Bourque, Dr. Salem and the nursing staff of 3rd floor at Victoria General Hospital for the excellent care they gave our mother.
