JOHN HONER It is with sadness that we announce Dads peaceful passing on October 7, 2001, with his family at his side. Heartfelt thanks for the love and kindness of all those involved with Dads care on the N-1 Wing of Middlechurch Home. John was born in Winnipeg on April 25, 1918 and lived in the Elmwood area until 1953 when he moved his family to Rivercrest. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Eva; brother Ted (Eva) sister Phyllis Drescher (Richard) and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Irene; children, Beverley Graham (Mickey), Judy McEwen (Buck), John (Connie), Gerry (Donna), Kathy Worden (Merv) nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, as well as brother Norman (Doreen) and brother-in-law Jim Ratcliffe (Marg) and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad retired in 1983 after a career as a tool-and-die maker. He was Supervisor of the Nuclear Department at Bristol Aerospace and held positions with Simons Sheet Metal, Die Cast, and served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War. John enjoyed his retirement years playing golf, camping and working in his shop. If he could not find a part to fix something, he would make it. The centre of Johns full life was his family. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He always had time to spend with the kids and grandchildren and to help with projects. Dad was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He would end his daily prayers with "Lord we thank You for your love and protection. Make us worthy of You, our Saviour, Counsellor, and our Friend. Amen." Funeral service will take place Wednesday, October 10, 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church on McCalman and Grey, with Pastor Kruesel officiating. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Darren McEwen, Matthew Honer, Derek Honer, Tyler Worden, Lukas Worden, and Dave Koskie. Internment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Alzheimers Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to a charity of your choice. Thank you Dad for a lifetime of love, protection, and guidance. Arrangements Entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
