Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD MITCHELL Peacefully, with his family by his side, Donald Robert, aged 84 years, passed away at his residence in Deer Lodge Centre on Friday, October 5, 2001. Donald was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Lucy in 1991. Left to mourn his passing are son Allan (Janet) of London, ON, daughters, Joan (Colin) Wellman and Phyllis (Doug) Berk; his grandchildren, Colleen and Neil Valka, Daniel and Michael Berk, all of Winnipeg; and his remaining brothers and sisters. Born on September 29, 1917 in Winnipeg, Donald married Lucy Jackson on December 2, 1944. He was an avid golfer and at the age of 17, won The Manitoba Junior Golf Championship. Donald was a member of the St. Boniface Golf Club where he held an honourary lifetime membership. He also enjoyed bowling, and was a long time member of the St. Josephs Mens Club and later the Dakota Senior Bowling League. Donald worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway for over 40 years. In their later years, Donald and Lucy travelled extensively. Cremation has taken place and the memorial service will be held on Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. from Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. A reception will follow for family and friends in the Heritage Room at Green Acres. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Deer Lodge Centre, Unit T7, for the wonderful are and help given to Donald. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, a memorial contribution may be made to the Salvation Army, 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8.
