Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTSUTOMU MIYAHARA 1914 - 2001 Peacefully, and surrounded by his family, Mr. Tsutomu Miyahara passed away on Friday October 5, 2001. He will be sadly missed by his wife Sumiko, daughters Akemi and Mayumi (Davy) Kawakami and grandson Brian Kawakami. Tsutomu is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families in Canada and Japan. Tsutomu was predeceased by his father Ichisuke, his mother Mitsu, his brother Toshio and sister-in-law Tsuneko. Dad was born October 23, 1914 in Vancouver, BC. He returned to Japan at the age of five years and returned to Canada in 1928. He married Sumiko Nishi in Vancouver in 1942. In 1946, after the end of the Second World War he evacuated to Manitoba and with the help of his wife and life partner re-established a home for his family. He worked at Ancast Industries for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. Dad had a strong sense of his familys history that he wanted to pass on to future generations. Events within his own family and the Japanese Canadian community are recorded through many photograph albums, newspapers and momentos. Dad was devoted to his family and worked hard to ensure a secure future for them. We will always remember his determination, perseverance and loving support. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the Manitoba Buddhist Church, 825 Winnipeg Ave. with Sensei Nishiake leading the service. A private family interment will be held at Chapel Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Grace General Hospital and special friends Katherine and Rene Frey for their support at this difficult time. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, a donation in Tsutomus memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
