RICHARD "DICK" BOWCOTT Peacefully, on October 7, 2001, at Deer Lodge Centre, Dick Bowcott passed away with family at his side. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Kay. Dicks memory will be forever cherished by his son John and wife Irene of Ile des Chenes; daughters Jean and husband Ian of Winnipeg, and Maryanne and husband Richard of Winnipeg; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; as well as his brother Ray Barrett. Dick was born on October 12, 1914, in Winnipeg, MB, and was raised in East Braintree. As a young man, Dick worked for many years across Canada. In 1939 he and Kay married and started a family. In 1939 Dad enlisted in the Winnipeg Grenadiers and went overseas with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada. He returned home in 1942 and he became an active member of the War Amps of Canada. Dick and Kay opened Bowcotts Grocery on Pacific Avenue in Brooklands and operated it for many years.He then spent 45 years living in Morse Place after Brooklands. He was employed by Marshall Wells of Canada until his retirement. Dick loved hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening with his family. The family would like to thank Alma and Jim Barker and Temmie and all the staff at Tower 7 of Deer Lodge Centre. Memorial service for Dick will be held on Friday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow.
