JOHN (JON) GUNNSTEIN EINARSON May 9, 1925 - October 8, 2001 Peacefully, on October 8, 2001, John (Jon) Gunnstein Einarson, aged 76 years, of Grand Rapids, MB, passed away at his home. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Ellen (nee McKay) of 46 years. His children, Gunner (Rachel), Lillian (Ernie) Turner, Patricia (Raymond) Hudson of Grand Rapids, Marlene (Domenic) Andreacchio; their children, Johnathon, Robert, Joe (Kerri) and family, Theresa (David) Shipton of Adelaide, Australia, Roselyne Jarvie (Gord Kirbyson) of Gypsymville; grandchildren, Tara (Ralph), Nadine (Hardisty), Ashley, Matthew, Brandon, Kyle, Kayla, Kingsley and Bobby; great-grandchildren, Breyden, Kiara, Haven and Ethan; brothers, Einar (Gertie), Freeman (Eileen), Bjarni (Beverly) sisters, Gudny Palsson, Gudrun (Baldwin) Jonasson, Steina (Laurie) Gaffray, Thorunn Einarson, Margaret (Dan) Epple, Sylvia (Jim) Maloney, Alda (Peter) Gudmundson; sisters-in-law, Rubina Einarson, Agnes McKay, Lil McKay, Evelyn (Eigill) Johnson; brother-in-law, John J. Einarson, along with many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Malmfridur and Gunnar; brother Ronnie; sisters-in-law, Gertie McKay, Gladys Johnston, Lena McKay, Nora Cook, Annie McKay, Jane Einarson and a baby in infancy, Constance; brothers-in-law, Gordon Einarson, Einar Palsson, Fred Vincent, Kari Einarson, Herb McKay, John McKay, Morris McKay, Norman McKay, Tommy McKay, William McKay, Jimmy Johnston, Walter Cook, Charlie Fox; nieces, Connie Kommernicki and Marlene McKay; his mother and father-in-law, Lawrence and Lilly McKay. A wake service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, at the St. James Anglican Church in Grand Rapids, MB, with prayers to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, at the St. James Anglican Church with Rev. Douglas Highway and Rev. Michael Chartrand officiating. Interment to follow in the St. James Anglican Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Garfield McKay, Edgar McKay, Darcy McKay, Bill McKay, Ron Cook and Wayne Einarson. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Herb Cook, Cliff Wilton, Clifford Mercredi, Hardisty Ballantyne, Jim Sangster, Lloyd Fourre, Eigill Johnson, John J. Einarson and his great-grandchildren.
