DENNIS CAMERON KORT August 30, 1957 - October 4, 2001 Unexpectedly, but peacefully, during a brief illness, Dennis Cameron Kort, aged 44 years, of Carlowrie, MB. Survived by his loving mother Ida Kort of Balmoral; his brother Klaus of Winnipeg; his sister Ingrid of Winnipeg; and his sister Elaine and husband Jim Vnuk of Stonewall; along with nephews, James and Matthew Vnuk. He will be sadly missed by many dear friends and honorary brothers. He was predeceased by his father Julius Kort in 1991; and a sister and a brother in their infancy. Dennis grew up in Carlowrie. He attended school at Carlowrie, Arnaud, Dominion City and Emerson, graduating from Roseau Valley Collegiate in 1975. After graduation, he worked locally as a farm labourer, moving on to Superior Coach Mfg. Ltd. In Morris, MB until its closure, and was employed at Boeing Canada Ltd. In numerous capacities for the last 17 years until the time of his death. Dennis was a born entertainer. As a young man, he and a friend created and partnered in Harvest Light and Sound, providing light hearted entertainment and music to many social evenings, weddings, etc. He was a self taught juggler who later became a member of the Winnipeg Juggling Club. His skills included balloon artistry, juggling, fire eating and assorted cheap magic tricks. In 1990, he partnered with friend Marcel Desilets to become the Ballonet Bros. Specializing in family entertainment. Performances included year round holiday events, many company Christmas parties, festivals and numerous charitable events. He derived tremendous enjoyment from teaching juggling to others, especially children. He was a dedicated blood donor achieving over 75 donations. He was honoured by The Canadian Red Cross Society as a distinguished citizen and humanitarian. Dennis also loved the outdoors; camping, fishing and bird watching being some of his most favourite activities. He had earned numerous master angler awards for his fishing abilities. Other interests included woodworking, carpentry, cooking, golf, cross country skiing, kite flying, literature and the enjoyment of any and all types of music. He was a self-sufficient man who could tackle any situation or project without hesitation. He loved life and treasured his friends. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with service ending at the Chapel. Private interment will follow at a later date. If friends so desire, donations in Dennis memory may be made to a charity of ones choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements 586-8044.
