Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLENN ABBOTT LUCAS Peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2001, at the Portage District General Hospital, Glenn, aged 66 years, beloved husband of Janice, went to be with his Lord and Saviour. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Janice Lucas (nee Clark) of Portage la Prairie; daughter Lynne and her husband Richard Desilets of Elie; son Scott of Stony Mountain and his fiancee Barbara Hickey; grandchildren, Andrea, Nicolas and Elliot Desilets, Brandon and Charlie Lucas; and son-in-law Dale Cramer of Portage. Glenn will be fondly remembered by his sister Sandra and her husband Jim Fay of Winnipeg and sister-in-law Patricia Lucas of Pinawa. He will be sadly missed by his many family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Janie; parents, Charles and Hilda Lucas; and brother Roy. Glenn was born in Winnipeg and raised in West Kildonan, where he received his education and was active in soccer and hockey. As a young man, Glenn held various jobs. He served proudly as a member of the Winnipeg Fire Department for many years. Glenn and Janice enjoyed many happy years raising their family in the North End. In 1971 he attended Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto and continued studies at Winnipeg Bible College. The family moved to Portage in 1973 where he served as pastor of Bible Baptist Church. Glenn spent over 20 years in the medical supply industry. He was a partner in Northland Health Care Products and later founded his own business, Lucas, Lucas & Associates. He travelled extensively throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and N.W. Ontario making lifelong friendships throughout his career. Glenn had many ties to the Christian community. He continued to be involved in church ministries throughout his life. At his passing he was a member of St. Aidans Anglican Church. Glenn loved to golf and participated in tournaments with colleagues. His fondest passion was trout fishing and spending time at "the farm", revelling in the fellowship of family and friends. Many enjoyable evenings were spent on the deck or in front of a bonfire. An outgoing person, Glenn was also an avid listener who loved to be with people. His accepting attitude and sense of humour made people at ease. His positive impact on the lives of all he met was a gift that was evident to everyone. A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, October 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the Portage Alliance Church (in Portage la Prairie), with Rev. Dr. Murray Henderson officiating. The family would like to express their heartfelt and sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the medical ward of the Portage Hospital whose care was so special that Glenn was able to call it his second home. Donations in Glenns memory to Palliative Care, Portage General Hospital, would be appreciated. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
