ANTHONY (TONY) RUTA April 11, 1924 - October 8, 2001 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony at the Tache Centre on Monday, October 8, 2001 at the age of 77. He leaves to mourn and be remembered by his wife of 56 years Elsie; sons, Norm (Wendy), Ken (Lynette) and grandson Rick (Melissah). He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Boyce, Ann Tymchuk and Estelle Erickson (Wes) sister-in-law Germaine Ruta; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Tony worked at C.N. for 35 years until his retirement in 1986. Soon after he got involved and was a founding member of the Archwood Seniors Club, where he was president for 14 consecutive years. He also volunteered his time and was instrumental in the New Tremblay Street Bridge and the East Norwood Revitalization Program, in which he was honoured by Mayor Glen Murray. Tony and the rest of the family would spend much time at his cabin in Woodridge, MB, where he also made many friends and enjoyed the quiet life and the outdoors. Tony was active until his car explosion and his health began to deteriorate from there. Thanks to the staff of the Tache Centre and special thanks to Sister Collet, Paul and Cecile for their special attention. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11 from the chapel of Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
