Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD CHARLES CHARLTON On Tuesday, October 9, 2001 Leonard Charles Charlton passed away in Central Park Lodge 440 Edmonton St. at the age of 87 years. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Bertha, sister, Jean Lownds (Harry) of Halifax, brother, David Alexander of Ottawa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roy during the war and a sister, Molly Paterson in Saskatoon. Leonard was born in Moose Jaw, SK on June 7, 1914 to Theresa and Leonard Charles Charlton. He joined the RCAF in Saskatoon in 1940 serving in the United Kingdom 1941 to 1942, the Middle East 1942 to 1943 and Canada 1943 to 1945. Leonard worked for the Winnipeg Tribune for 30 years. After retirement he joined the City of Winnipeg as clerk of the Municipal Golf Courses. He also spent several years as a volunteer with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Michael Wilson and Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Vital Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Grace Hospital Research Foundation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of ones choice.
