ELIZABETH (BETTY) PETERS Suddenly, but peacefully Betty Peters, beloved wife of Edward Peters passed away at home on October 9, 2001, at the age of 71. She was born on June 10, 1930 in Morris, MB to parents John and Sara Braun. Betty attended the local school and later went to Springstein for a year. She was baptized in the Lichtenau Church where she also sang in the choir. On June 17, 1950 Betty married Edward Peters with whom she lived 51 years, 3 months and 22 days. They moved to Winnipeg in 1957 where she was very involved with the Society for Crippled Children and Adults and also the Deaf Society. She also belonged to the Tabitha Club at First Mennonite Church and served as Deacon for five years at the church. For many years she was the President of the Occasional Choir. She loved travelling and went with her husband on many winter holidays. She loved crafts and gardening. Betty was predeceased by her children Hildegarte in 1952 and Edward Harry in 1999. She is survived by her husband Edward; one brother Nick (Helen) Braun, sister-in-law Tina Isaak, brother-in-law Herb (Phyllis) Peters, brother-in-law Peter and Wendy Peters, sister-in-law Selma and Franz Pauls and brothers-in-law, Frank Solnik, Jake Peters and Neil Wiebe. Now she is with her children, whom she missed very much. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. The Committal will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the Lichtenau Cemetery at Ste. Elizabeth. Viewing Friday 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy., and at the church prior to the service. If friends desire, donations may be made to Bethania Chaplaincy Fund, available at the service. Rest in Peace. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
