LEO HENRY HERNER Peacefully, on October 10, 2001 at St. Boniface Hospital, Leo Herner passed away with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his son, Claude in 1986, his parents Peter and Christine, brothers, John and Peter, and sisters, Helen and Kay. He is survived by his loving wife, Adeline of 55 years, his children, Jim (Eileen), Mari-Ann (friend Brian), and Kathy (Eugene) seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe of Morden, and Bill (Irene) of Winnipeg; sisters, Rose (Tib) Notter of Penticton, BC, Tillie Heather of Winnipeg, Adeline Backman (Harold) of Lundar and Frances Campbell of Lac La Hache, BC. Leo was born on September 25, 1915 in Winnipeg. He joined the Lord Strathcona Horse (army) in 1942 and discharged in 1945, after having served in Germany, Holland and Italy. After farming for one year at Lundar, he took up plumbing and operated Leos Plumbing in Winnipeg until his retirement in 1985. He was an active member of St. Josephs Mens Club, a member of the Legion, a founder of St. Peters Church and choir. He was a Blue Bomber season ticket holder for 46 years. Leo was a wonderful husband and father. His greatest joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Fine and the nurses and staff on 5B at St. Boniface Hospital. Prayers will be held on Sunday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on October 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, 738 Keewatin St. with Msgr. M. Comeault, P.H.,V.F. officiating. Inurnment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Brent, Ron, Kim, Roxanne, Tami, Melissa, Nicole and nephew Randy Herner. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made in Leos memory to Heart & Stroke or Kidney Foundation. DAD, if we spent the rest of our lives trying, wed never have enough chances to tell you how much your love, your guidance and your trust in us has always meant.
