GEORGE REAL LEMERE After a lengthy illness, our father, George Real LeMere, died in Victoria, BC on September 28, 2001 in his 79th year. His four daughters, Donna Van Horne, Vicki LeMere, Jannine LeMere and Monique LeMere-Madick; his son-in-laws, Wayne Van Horne, Alan Madick and Samuel Doyle; his ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Rutledge; and brother, Art LeMere will miss him. George was born in St. Leon, MB on October 23, 1922 and spent his first 40 years of his life in Winnipeg. He served with the Canadian Armed Forces - Artillery Division during the Second World War. After returning to Winnipeg, he worked as circulation manager for the Winnipeg Tribune. Subsequently, his career then took him to Vancouver, Montreal, New York and finally Toronto. He settled in Victoria, BC in 1999. George had many hobbies and interests including his cottage at Lake Simcoe, where he strove to grow the perfect replica of a Manitoba beefsteak tomato. He was an avid inventor and loved to create. He was always willing to try a new craft, evidence of which is displayed in his daughters homes. The cold chased him to Florida most winters, always with his three beloved cats in tow. There he enjoyed the greyhound races, crossword puzzles and the daily newspaper. A private family ceremony will be held when he is returned to Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society. I never think he is quite ready for another world who is altogether weary of this.
