MARIA KIEN (nee Wutzke) It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maria Kien. With her family by her side she left us to be with her Lord on October 10, 2001 at the Neepawa Hospital at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 17 days. Maria was the third child of Edward and Amelia Wutzke. She was born in Steinbach, MB on June 23, 1907. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. She was a life long member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waldersee, MB. She was also a member of the E.L.W. Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Henry in 1985; parents Edward and Amelia Wutzke; four sisters, two brothers, and a half-brother, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Gordon (Lil) of Glenella, Don of Edmonton, Ed (Connie) of Rocanville, SK, Darlene of Winnipeg, Joyce (Paul) of Winnipeg, Glen (Vicky) of Glenella, Art (Vickie) of Waldersee, Audrey (Don) of Winnipeg; 19 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister Frieda Mauthe of Plumas; two sisters-in-law, Martha Wutzke of Glenella, and Elsie Knispel of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Moms pride and joy was her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, baking and doing needlework. We are grateful for such a wonderful mother and the many fond memories we cherish of her. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Lutheran Church, Waldersee with Pastor Norris Nordin officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldersee Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons Curtis Kien, Kenton Kien, Michael Kien, Aaron Maczuga, Marly Zdan, and Jason Yaholkoski. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Neepawa Palliative Care Services, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB, R0J 1H0, or to a charity of ones choice. Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements.
