MARY OLIVE RUDOLPH After a lengthy illness, Olive passed away on October 9, 2001 in Kitchener, ON at the age of 75 years. Olive is survived by her three children, Janice and husband Ian Smith of Burlington, ON, Barb and husband Ed Vukets and their children, Cynthia and David of Waterloo, ON, Dave Rudolph and Mari Pierre Daoust of Waterloo, ON and her brother Lou and wife Gwen Johnston of Winnipeg, MB. Olive was predeceased by her husband Leo and her parents Richard and Mary Johnston. Olive was born on April 18, 1926 in Winnipeg, MB. She grew up and attended school in St. Boniface. She met her husband, Leo at Pala Camp on Lake Minaki and they were married on April 20, 1948. They settled in East Kildonan and raised their family there. Olives family was the main focus of her life and they all benefited greatly from her kindness, generosity and endless optimism. She was always ready with a cheery smile, a laugh or a helping hand. Olive survived a bout with cancer in her 30s and went on to faithfully canvas for the Canadian Cancer Society for over 20 years. Olive had a real love of animals, from feeding the chipmunks at the cottage to raising the family dog to enjoying the horse jumping and racing. The fall was always a special time for her as she and Leo would often visit the water fowl sanctuaries with their children and grand-children to watch the migrations. Later in life, Olive became an avid bridge player and could be found at Rossmere Country Club, Bronx Park Community center or at a neighbours enjoying the game with her many friends. She loved children and volunteered as a reading tutor at Angus Mckay School. Olive lived the final years of her life at The Village of Winston Park in Kitchener, ON with her three children nearby. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at The Village of Winston Park for their professional and personal care over the last few years. Many thanks are also extended to the staff of Robertson Brown Health Services for the care and companionship they all provided to our mother. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. in Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Interment will follow in the Garden of Prayer within Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Center. If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.
