LESLIE JEAN SNELL It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden death of our beloved sister and daughter, Leslie Jean Snell, aged 45, on Saturday, October 13, 2001. Leslie will be lovingly remembered by her mother Barbara; brothers, Jim (Irene) and Don (Mary-Jo) and sister Barb Barbour (Chuck), of Winnipeg; her aunt Susan Flaxman (Jack) of Toronto; her uncle Arthur Snell (Bev) of Calgary; her niece Ashlee and her nephews, Jeff, Anthony, Aaron, Jacob, Jonathan, Tyler, Nick, Daniel, David and Charlie; her dear friend Will Janzen of Vancouver; and countless other friends. She was predeceased by her father William (Bill) Snell. A life long resident of Winnipeg, Leslie was born on December 2, 1955. She grew up in River Heights attending John Dafoe, J.B. Mitchell and Grant Park High School. She went on to Red River Community College where she studied Business Administration, and then after further study, received her Certified General Accountants designation. She had worked the past 15 years for the Province of Manitoba in increasingly responsible roles in the Taxation Department including her current position as Director of Management and Research. Leslie was a vibrant lady. She had a zest for living that wouldnt allow a day to go by without making someone laugh. She could always find something or someone to brighten her day. She loved to be around people and enjoyed engaging them in conversations on a variety of topics. She took a genuine interest in the lives of others and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed travelling, golfing, sailing, creative hobbies such as cross stitching and woodworking, and entertaining family and friends. Leslie especially loved the ocean and hoped to live near there one day. The family wishes to thank the medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital, the Health Sciences Centre and Cancer Care Manitoba for their care during Leslies brief but courageous battle with cancer. To all the many friends and co-workers who visited both at home and in hospital during the past two months, words cannot express our appreciation. A service to celebrate Leslies life will be held in Thomsons Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway, on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Leslie Snell Memorial Fund" c/o the Childrens Heritage Fund, 1577 Wall St. East, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 2S5. The Miracle of Friendship Theres a miracle called friendship That dwells within the heart, And you dont know how it happens Or how it get its start . . . But the happiness it brings you Always gives a special lift, And you realize that friendship Is Gods most precious gift! Goodbye dear friend. We will miss you. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
