ROSE HELWER Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Rose Helwer of Selkirk, MB, passed away on October 14, 2001 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. Rose is survived by her loving and devoted sons, Dennis (Pat) and Donald; grandchildren, Tyson of Petersfield, MB, Shane of Winnipeg, MB, and Leanne of Calgary, AB; sister Anne (John) Marko of Libau, MB; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alex in 1998; sisters, Kathleen Nebozenko, Mary Andrews, Eva Strutwa, Victoria Myketiuk, Daisy Wakshinsky; and brothers, John, Joe, and Mike Starin. Born on September 17, 1920 at Libau, MB, Rose was one of William and Anna Starins 10 children. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Alex, on June 22, 1946. While raising their family, Rose lived in Winnipeg, Glenboro, Cromer, and Edmonton, finally settling in Selkirk, where they lived since 1969. A kind and gentle person, Rose loved her family and home. She was dedicated to Alex and missed him beyond words. Her sons and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She had a special friendship with her sisters and nieces, Lorna, Evelyn, Nan, Beverly, June, Margaret, and neighbour Annette. To know her was to love her. A Service of Remembrance will be held on October 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on PTH #9, south of Selkirk, with Pastor Leon Gilbertson officiating. Rose gave generously to many charities. Among her favourites were Childrens and Misericordia Hospitals. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Roses favourites or to the charity of their choice. You opened your heart to everyone and wrapped them in your loving arms Your smile, your laugh will never be forgotten You were the safe haven to run to Someone who always listened We will never understand why God called you home, but rest peacefully now Knowing you will always be in our hearts. - Love you Granny Pallbearers are Edward and Ken Wakshinsky, Gary Bediuk, Ron Helwer, Jerry Letkeman, John Buchan.
