JOYCE MARION MACKENZIE (nee ALCOCK) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, Joyce Mackenzie passed away Monday, October 15, 2001, at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 76. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bill; her children, John (Lynne), Barb (Alan) and Shelagh (Rod) her grandchildren, Colin, Carolyn, Steven, Michael, Kerri and Graeme; her brother Dr. John Alcock and his family; as well as many, many friends. She was predeceased by her mother Ruth in 1961 and her father Alfred "Chauncey" Alcock in 1980. Joyce was born in Winnipeg on July 4, 1925. She attended Grosvenor, Robert H. Smith and Kelvin Schools and the University of Manitoba. After graduating from Home Economics in 1946, Joyce worked in the biochemistry lab at Winnipeg General Hospital until her marriage to Bill in September, 1951. She was a lifetime member of the Childrens Hospital Chown Guild. The staff at Childrens Clinic will remember Joyce for the countless dedicated hours she worked until her retirement in August, 2001. Joyces life was filled with family, friends, bridge and curling. She was a caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who took great pleasure in her home and garden. Joyce was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children and her grandchildren. We will always cherish the memories of the many special occasions celebrated at Nanas and Grandpas home. We will miss her warm heart, her generosity and her spirit. Her courage and dignity during her brief illness was a strength to all of us who loved her. The family would like to extend thanks to Drs. Cronin, D. Young, S. Young, and Maxwell and the nursing staff of the 5th floor at the Victoria Hospital for their compassionate support. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m. in St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation or the charity of ones choice. But to see her was to love her, love but her and then forever. R.B. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
