L. PAUL DUMAINE It is with great sorrow that we the family announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and grandfather on October 13, 2001 at the age of 69. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Alice; two sons, Robert (Violet Stoik) and Marc (Liz) one daughter Michele (Kent) Brubaker; five grandchildren, Danielle, Christine, and Nicholas Brubaker, Benjamin and Natalie Dumaine; one sister Lea (Don) Levesque of Winnipeg, MB; two brothers, Armand of Coquitlam, BC, Aime (Annette) of Winnipeg; three brothers-in-law, Emile (Madeleine) Alarie of Winnipeg, Marc (Shelley) Alarie of Ste-Anne, MB, Rene (Kathy) Alarie of Dauphin, MB; three sisters-in-law, Marie (Eugene) Hogue of Summerland, BC, Louise (Don) Thevenot of Montreal, PQ, Adrienne (Robert) Paquette of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Philippe and Eva; and his brother Marcel Dumaine. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Saint-Boniface College. He later completed his studies towards a Masters Degree in Telecommunications at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Paul started his 35-year broadcasting career in Winnipeg with the CBC. Prior to his appointment as Regional Director of French Services for Alberta in 1979, he was involved with the production of numerous local and network television programs. After retiring from the CBC in 1990, he joined Right Management Consultants as a Professional Services Consultant. Active in the community, he sat on the finance committee of his local parish for many years and as President of the Richelieu Service Club participated in many fundraising projects. As consultant for la Societe educative de lAlberta, he established a program to assist young adults in their search for employment. For the past two years he was the Alberta and N.W.T. representative on the Board of Directors, CBC Pensioners National Association. Throughout his life Paul was devoted to his family and his many friends. He will be sorely missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. at St-Thomas dAquin Catholic Church, 8410 - 89 St.. Cremation to follow.
