GORDON SMITH (SCHMIDT) In loving memory of Gordon Smith, aged 65, of Dryden, ON, who passed away at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, October 13, 2001. Gordon will be sadly missed by his wife Joan and daughters, Tracy Smith of Ottawa and Heather (Sean) Albanese of Thunder Bay. Gordon is also survived by brothers and sisters, Marge (Ernie) Ottenbreit of Winnipeg, Jerry (Marion) Smith of Dryden, Jean (Alan) Blyth of Dartmouth and Jim (Carol) Schmidt of Winnipeg; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was born in Lydiatt, MB on September 2, 1936, and later lived in Winnipeg. In 1965, he and Joan moved to Dryden where he worked at the pulp and paper mill for 29 years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Church, 23 Van Horne Ave., in Dryden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Fund, in care of Dr. James Johnston, CancerCare Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Gordons family wishes to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate support provided by Dr. James Johnston and the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Gordon at the Health Sciences Centre and at St. Boniface Hospital.
