MARILYN "JOY" TAYLOR Peacefully on October 14, 2001, Joy went to be with her Lord. Joy was born September 29, 1949 in Winnipeg. She was a student at Linwood and Deer Lodge schools as well as St. James Collegiate. She attended Bethesda Church until age 15 at which time she moved to Alberta to attend Prairie Bible Institute. It was here she met her lifelong friend Judi Gaunt from Wilmington, DE. Following school, she returned with Judi to Wilmington where together they established "Kiddie Kollege", a nursery school and daycare. Joy was diagnosed with Lupus at the age of 19. For the next 33 years she experienced numerous health difficulties but faced each one with great courage and determination. In 1995, she returned to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. Joy is predeceased by her grandparents; uncles, Fred Bunny and Bob Taylor; aunt, Connie Taylor; brother-in-law, Garth Lee; friend Judi Gaunt and godson Max Gaunt. She is survived by her parents, Bill and Vera Taylor; sisters, Bev Lee and Roberta (Brian) Ferguson; nieces, Melissa (Doug) Wall, Jennie-Lee Ferguson; nephew Stuart Lee; great-niece, Raven; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; goddaughter, Jamie-Joy of Tennessee; many friends and her special "kids", her yorkies, Dude and Cubby. Special thanks to Dr. Gregan and Dr. Canvin; Mary Armstrong; JP Plotkin; the "special card lady", Audrey Kane and the many others who, in their various ways, helped to brighten her days. A private internment will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held at Ness Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Joys memory to the Lupus Association of Manitoba would be greatly appreciated.
