Jennifer was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Nettie Schmor; her brother Marvin and special friend, Herb Lother. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their partners, Heather and Bill Quinn, Chris, Melanie and Jamie Williams, Leah and Jill Mathez. As well she leaves her siblings and their partners, Grace Gossen, Pearl Smith, Blanche Siemens, Earl and Ruth Schmor, Bob and Mary Schmor and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her cherished dog, Misha. Jennifer was born and raised in the small farming community of Hepburn, SK. She married Henry Janzen in 1952 and following a series of moves the couple and their young family settled in Winnipeg. Mom entered Normal School in 1964 and began her fulfilling career in education. Her lifelong love of learning and teaching led her to obtain a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology in 1988. She found her calling at Marymound School where she served first as a teacher and for 12 years as the schools Principal. She retired briefly in 1998, travelled extensively for two years and then found herself drawn back to schools and to children. She completed her career as a Counsellor and Resource Teacher at Shaftesbury High School. Jennifer also shared her knowledge as an instructor in the Faculty of Education at both University of Manitoba and University of Winnipeg. For the past 20 years Jennifer enjoyed an association with the Organization for Cooperation in Overseas Development, serving first as a teacher, team Leader and finally as the Chair of the Board. Throughout her life she had given her time to various arts, charitable and educational organizations. Mom lived the Marymound philosophy, "One person is worth more than the whole world" and, as a result, she had a tremendous impact on students, colleagues, friends and family members. Moms passions included music, literature, nature and nurturing her relationships with her friends and family. Many wonderful memories were made at her cottage at Lakeshore Heights. We will miss her warmth, her sense of humour and her generosity of spirit. Her willingness to embrace life, to take risks and to love unconditionally have been hallmarks of her rich life. The family wishes to thank the staff at 3 East at the Riverview Health Centre for their exceptional care of our Mom. We also want to thank Jennifers many supportive friends and family for their expressions of love during this difficult time. A celebration of Jennifers life will take place on Monday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, 255 Oak St., with the Rev. Janet Walker officiating. A private family interment will be held in Waverley Memorial Gardens.
