GENE "JIM" NEILL With great courage and faith, Jim peacefully left us with his family and friends at his side on October 27, 2001, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 59. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Carol (Stengrim) loving and devoted sons, Brent and Daniel; faithful pet "Tasha"; his parents Ted and Jean Neill of Dauphin; sisters, Elaine (Fern) Sabourin of St. Jean Baptiste, Linda Perreault of Winnipeg; brother Garry (Faye) of Calgary; nieces and nephews, Kathleen (Philippe) Lepage, Cherisse Neill, Neil and Troy Sabourin, Jon-Paul Perreault; Carols family Joyce (Wayne) Davis and Marvin (Jim) Stengrim all of Saskatoon. He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his devoted friends, Larry and Martha Giesbrecht, Lydia and Ewald Jabs and Greg Jankiewich (Rosemarie). Jim was employed as a Bus Operator for Winnipeg Transit for 25 years, recently and proudly receiving Driver of the Month award and 20 Years of Safe Driving award. He was a longtime member of Ft. Rouge #97 Royal Canadian Legion, Past President of Boy Scouts of Canada Ft. Rouge District, Past Treasurer of Crescentwood C.C. Beavers and Cubs. He will also be missed at Winnipeg Beach where Jim, Carol and their sons spent many happy summers at their cottage. The family would like to thank Dr. C. Hildahl, Dr. Wong, Kathy, Bunty Anderson, and all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital and a special thank you to our home care staff Joanne, Michael and Marc, and to our palliative care nurse Chris for their dedication, understanding, and compassion. As well, to all our wonderful friends, relatives and prayer groups for your dedicated love, support, meals, and prayers. We love you all. Jim was a very kind, gentle, loving man that will be remembered forever. "You fought a courageous battle. Sleep tight my love, until we meet again, let it be." In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so wish, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6 or to a charity of their choice. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 31 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Reception will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre.
