JAMES RODERICK ROGERS James Roderick Rogers, aged 79, went peacefully home to be with his Lord on October 4, 2001, after a lengthy illness in High River Hospital, AB. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Winnifred; their son John of Winnipeg and daughter Virginia and her husband John Berg of Okotoks, AB; two adored grandsons, Paul and his wife Kelly and great-grandchildren, Marshall and Josie and David with his wife Priscilla Unger and great-grandson Hunter, all of Millarville, AB. Jim was born in Winnipeg on March 24, 1922, and lived in Weston with his parents Allan and Catherine Rogers and is survived by his sister Mrs. Kay Jack. He attended Cecil Rhodes and Daniel McIntyre schools and spent several years in the Army stationed in Winnipeg. Jim was a valued employee of National Grain (later to become Cargill) for 47 years. He was a member of Calvary Temple for over 55 years. In July 2000, he and his wife moved to a new home in the foothills of the Rockies, Okotoks, to live close to his daughter and grandchildren. He will most be remembered as a man of character and integrity by all those who knew him. His family will miss the man we used to know. Jims ashes will be laid to rest on property owned by his grandchildren in the mountains that he loved. The funeral service was held on October 6 and was a celebration of his life, led by his grandson Paul with contributions from his son John and Rev. Chris Carrigan. The service was much enriched by musical tributes from Kelly Unger, Susan Buss and Ken Harder.
